Structured data (JSON-LD)

A small block of hidden, machine-readable facts in the page — your business name, address, opening hours, prices, reviews — written in a format every search engine agrees on.

Why it matters

It converts prose a machine has to interpret into facts it can simply read. It is what produces star ratings, prices and opening hours in results, and it makes you far easier for an AI to quote accurately.

How to fix it, step by step

Moderate — an hour or so, or a plugin setting plus a re-check.

  1. 1Decide what the page is: a local business, a product, an article, a service.
  2. 2In WordPress, Yoast and Rank Math both generate this — set the page type in the SEO plugin's Schema tab and fill in the business details once.
  3. 3Without a plugin, use Google's Structured Data Markup Helper to generate the block, then paste it into the page head.
  4. 4Fill in every field you can honestly complete. Never state a rating or a price you do not really have.

How to know it worked

Paste the page URL into Google's Rich Results Test. It should detect your type with no errors.
