FAQ schema

Marking up question-and-answer pairs on the page so machines know which text is a question and which is its answer.

Why it matters

It is the highest-yield format for AI citation, because it hands an assistant a question and a matching answer with no interpretation required. It is also the cheapest schema to add.

How to fix it, step by step

Quick fix — usually under ten minutes, no developer needed.

  1. 1Add a short FAQ section answering five to seven real questions customers ask.
  2. 2Write genuine answers — two or three sentences each, specific to your business.
  3. 3In WordPress, use the FAQ block in Yoast or Rank Math, which writes the schema for you as you type.
  4. 4Only mark up questions that are actually visible on the page. Hidden FAQ markup is a policy violation.
