Speed measured from actual visitors' devices and connections, collected by Google, rather than from a test machine.
Why it matters
Lab tests run on fast hardware. Real users are on phones and patchy mobile data, and this is the data Google actually ranks on.
How to fix it, step by step
Moderate — an hour or so, or a plugin setting plus a re-check.
- 1Open Google PageSpeed Insights and enter the page. The top section is real-user data.
- 2If it says there is not enough data, the page has too little traffic — use the lab score below it meanwhile.
- 3Work on whichever of LCP, INP or CLS is failing; they need different fixes.
- 4Re-check after 28 days — this dataset is a rolling month and does not move immediately.
How to know it worked
The real-user section of PageSpeed Insights shows Good for all three metrics.
